Hi Soso! I have a question about my period. I haven't got it yet but my mom got hers at 16. I'm showing earlier signs that she had but I'm wondering if I'm gonna get mine earlier or the same age as her.

Okay so this is super common because everyone is different! Just because your mom got her period at 16, it doesn't mean you will get yours at the exact same age. Lots of things can affect when you get your first period, so there's no way to know for sure.

The biggest thing is that your body is on its own schedule. Even if you're showing some signs earlier than your mom did, that's just your body doing its thing. Things like when your breasts start to develop, or if you notice a white or yellowish discharge, or having a big growth spurt are usually pretty good clues that your period is getting ready to arrive in the next year or two. For most of us, that first period usually happens sometime between 10 and 13 years old, but it can totally be earlier or later.

Like, your mom's experience can give you a general idea, but your body is unique and will do what it needs to do when it's ready. You're literally on your own timeline!
